Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year and the shortest day. From this point onwards the light creeps back into our lives as we move towards the Spring Equinox. For the ancients this was a celebration of the turning point in the Earth’s journey around the sun, and the birth of a new year. These pagan festivals are important markers in the year where if we tune into the cycles of nature we can use them to empower and enrich our lives.
Winter Solstice is a time of reflection and contemplation and it's within this darkness and silence that we can experience a heightened awareness of anything that's brimming up from within. Try to spend some time in meditation and journey to the silence where many answers, solutions and inspiration can be found.
Once night falls light a candle, write anything you would like/need to let go of and burn it away. This is a powerful spell that helps us to get rid of anything that is not working for us in our lives. As we purge the past, we make way for the new.
Here's wishing you all a very happy Solstice for 21st December 2014 X
